Moshe Binnun, with his book "Historical Mission In Computers World" leaving the printing house - with Orly Levi, the CEO of Orion Book Publishing
Moshe Binnun - a computer engineer from Petah Tiqwa, Israel, is very involved in the field of programming, consulting, and also teaching the computer professions in a private instruction.
According to Moshe, he wrote the book following the inspiration he received from a number of people to turn the subject of computer's history into a product, a book, that would tell it in an accessible way to teenagers and show to them the vicissitudes that this world has gone through in the last 80 years.
Noy Sukar is an illustrator, graphic artist and interior designer who lives in Holon, Israel.
Moshe Binnun, in the first exposure of his book - Historical Mission In Computer World
A school pupil named Ofek gets a class final excercise about the history of computers from his teacher. Ofek, who is not connected to the field in any way and most of his time engaged in the field of music, doesn't know how to write the work and where to start. After searching for information on Google and consulting with his programmer uncle, Ofek still does not know how to start writing the work.
When Ofek tries to read about the subject in the encyclopedia, he falls asleep, and discovers that he woke up in the lab of the inventor of the first computer. Every time Ofek wakes up again, he meets another inventor. Ofek takes advantage of the one-time opportunity given to him and interviews the inventors, experiences the issues from their origin and also helps some of the inventors in their work.
Among the inventors whom Ofek interviews during his journey, you will find: Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Alan Turing and many others.
Book Reviews And Comments
In my opinion, the book is excellent especially for today's youth because it exposes them to a world that they most likely do not know. Beyond that, it explains how inventors researched and how they came to develop a product that today resides in our pocket and very intuitive to use, but in the past it was rare and its use was cumbersome and tedious. Most of the sections in the book are suitable even for children in elementary school.
The book enriched me with a new knowledge that I didn't know. For example, I didn't know that before high-level languages were developed, the developers were using low-level languages like assembly. I didn't even know that punch cards were used. The book is highly recommended for young people who don't know the world of the past. It sometimes feels like "back to the future" of the computer's world.
The book made me feeling nostalgic and took me back years ago, to a time when computers were a rare and expensive product. I really liked that it mentions different periods with different experiences, such as the period when I used diskettes or the period of Windows 95.
